Hummer H3 Powertrains

Hummer H3 Plug-in Hybrid
Engadget An April 2009 column [5] reported that Raser Technologies and FEV had built a prototype plug-in hybrid H3 100 MPG, that could achieve sufficient performance. This vehicle, which later became known as the H3 Hummer Electric, was then issued by the State of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at a press conference at the State Capitol in Sacramento to promote as part of a campaign to promote environmentally friendly cars.
Hummer H3 Capabilities
The H3 is a two-speed electronically controlled full-time front-wheel drive system for both on-road and off-road driving in all conditions, with electronic locking systems, and rear differential is optional. Like its big brother, the Hummer H2, H3 can (tested at depths up to 31 mm in/790) to 24 inches (610 mm) of water at a speed of 5 mph (8.0 kph) and Ford 16 ” (410 mm) of water at a speed of 20 mph (32 kph). V8 models have the easiest maximum payload of 1,100 pounds (500 kilograms), while that have straight-5, manual models, the biggest load of 1300 pounds (590 kilograms).
Electronic stability control, anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, brake-controlled traction control, LATCH child-seat anchors, and tire-pressure monitoring are all standard features on the H3. Side-curtain airbags were optional until 2008 when they were made standard across. The H3 is rated Acceptable, the second highest rating, by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in both frontal offset and side-impact crashes (with side airbags) and Poor, the lowest rating, for rear-crash protection/head restraints.
