Shelby Ford Raptor announced

Ford SVT Raptor Shelby 1 545x364 at Shelby Ford Raptor Announced

If the standard Ford SVT Raptor seems a bit weak to you, Shelby has just announced their version based on the 2013 version, and it’s a beast. Not that the standard car is a slouch – it has 410 horsepower – but this thing has a colossal, for a pickup truck, 575 horsepower.

That power is the result of installing a 2.9 liter supercharger mounted on the 6.2 liter V8 engine. It is distributed between all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. The car is also fitted with 35-inch Goodrich All-Terrain tires and optional custom wheels, so off-roading should be even more fun.

Shelby Raptor is offered as a post title package for $17,995. It is limited to 100 units, each coming with a numbered plaque.

THE BUGATTI VEYRON…BEETLE EDITION

If you had any doubts that Bugatti belongs to the same group as the makers of the legendary Beetle, just take a look at this, admittedly humorous, but at the same time, high-quality digital rendering, from the creative minds at RC82 Workchop.

The Polish artist(s) incorporated all the design cues of the original (or classic) Volkswagen Beetle, from the deep-dish steel wheels and bug eyes, to the window frames and exterior door hinges, on the shape of the Bugatti Veyron hypercar.

Do you think it would be worth someone’s time, work and money to actually build a real-life version of the Bugeyron or whatever else you want to call it?

Like a mirage in the desert, ⋆ lures people to its embrace by promising things it has no intention of delivering. I wouldn’t go so far as to say Ford Racing will never build a production version of the drag-strip only Ford Mustang CobraJet powered by a Coyote V-8 paired with massive twin-turbos, but the lack of firm details — like saying how much horsepower this show pony makes — makes one suspicious.

Rolled forth at SEMA, Ford Racing will sell interested gearheads bits and pieces of the turbo project, but not the whole deal. That may take some time, and as much money as one of those big jackpots someone else always wins. At least Ford Racing proved it could race:

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

the GT500 is a Mustang with more power than any sane individual needs. This modded version looks really cool. Love this car!
