Designed to aid the capable photography team from National Geographic, this 2035 ZAIRE Concept Car has all the innovations incorporated to ensure that the 5-member team has a steady ground transportation system that tackles the African terrain. This vehicle features a unique transforming magnetic wheel system.


The vehicle is based on an innovative mechanism, as it possesses both frequency abilities and previous wheel mobility. Since it heads towards the hexagonal direction of greenhouse, it has been designed so that more diverse directions can be filmed. In addition, it has been designed in the way that it possesses spacious interior space with very wide left-and-right body and safe un-turning position.

Top 10 Visions Of The World In 1000 years

“What will the world will be like in 1,000 years” seems like an absurd question to even ask, especially since the degree to which the world changes in 100 years is overly ambitious enough to consider.  Yet curious people do wonder, and certain people like Ray Kurzweil (thought by many to be the Thomas Edison of today) spend all their time working to find the answers.


In honor of our 1,000th Toptenz article, Ray is going to take the podium to share with us some of his ideas about the future.  According to Ray, some of the same people living today will still be around in 1,000 years!  Technological visionary, leading inventor of our time, the recipient of the National Medal of Technology, inductee into the National Inventor’s Hall of Fame, and the recipient of 19 Doctorates and Honors from 3 U.S. Presidents, Ray gives us the top ten reasons to look ahead.


10.  A Future With Aliens?

Contact with other species, other civilizations?  With technological advancements looming large in the distance, a future with aliens may in fact be on the horizon.  Ray believes that advancements in technology will soon enable us to travel farther and longer into space, where we may encounter other planets and other life.


According to Arthur C. Clarke, another futurist, inventor, and science-fiction writer, technology is advanced enough already for us to make contact with aliens.  To our good humor, some people already believe they have come in contact with alien life, and television shows like “Alien Hunters” and the like are around to prove it.  Ray, more of a humanist than an alien hunter, focuses more on technology and of the progress of humankind and our current world, which takes us to our next topic – the future of the Earth itself.


9.  The Future Of The Earth?

When people think of the future, they tend to think of the planet Earth, and the mark we are leaving on its oceans and forests, and the havoc we have brought to it.  Which lands will be swallowed up by rising sea levels?  About climate changes: how to support a rapidly growing population in respect to food, fuel and natural resources?


Many pessimists foresee the worst (many doubt we will even survive another 1,000 years).  Material greed is swallowing up the Earth’s resources faster than it can replenish itself.  The future, in this vein, sounds rather dark, but Ray believes technology is going to help solve many environmental problems.


Still, who can stop asteroids and comets from colliding with the Earth?  Who can keep it from spinning off its axis like a marble shot out of bounds on the play yard?  And what about exploding stars in space shooting out bursts of gamma-rays stronger than millions of atomic bombs in far-away galaxies, with power strong enough to obliterate everything within millions of light years?  What kind of future exists for the Earth then?  According to Ray, much more interesting things, and less destructive possibilities, are on the horizon.


8.  Solutions To Energy And Environmental Concerns?

Ray believes that environmental and energy concerns can, and will, be solved with technological solutions in the future.  He claims that that the Earth will not turn into a polluted, over-crowded, tumultuous wasteland, but instead believes that nanotechnology will be capable of cleaning up environmental damage, meet our energy needs, purify water and air, and capture the energy of the Sun through solar panels and more.


He believes that we will meet our projected energy needs by 2030, with the development of these new technologies.  Will his overly-positive predictions win out to restore the planet Earth, or will the technology only be more waste to add to the heap?  Certainly the next 1,000 years will reveal the correct answers to Ray’s claims, either about our resourcefulness or about our inability to solve the problems we have created.


7.  Population Growth Problems Solved?

1,000 years from now, the world population is estimated to be roughly 14 billion.  Although such predictions are unlikely to be accurate, the concern is real, and more and more people are working fast and hard for solutions.  Will engineered food solve hunger and meet with growing food needs, or will it prove to be harmful to our health and environment in the end?


According to Ray, one day we will take in our nutrition like plants take in the sun, and as technology grows more advanced, our dependence on the Earth’s resources with become less and less.  Sounds like something straight out of a science fiction book, only better, if it proves to be true.


6.  Technology Of The Future

Ray calls it “the singularity,” a time when technology itself will merge with those creating it.  From devices in our eyeglasses and contact lenses, to displays being written directly into our retinas, emergent technology will not only change us, but will change everything.  There will be a time when we can use space itself to generate energy.


By changing our DNA, Ray believes that farther and farther space travel will be possible.  Sound like a technological utopia?  Certainly.  Taking it a step further, the technology we are currently creating will soon grow more intelligent than we are.  What to do then?  Simple: merge with that technology in order to compete.  Due to our slower evolutionary processes, only by doing this will we be able to survive against the uprising of future intelligent machines.  One day soon, Ray says, you will not be able to tell the difference between human and artificial intelligence.  This brings us to the next section on our list: intelligent machines.


5.  Visions Of Intelligent Machines

The emergence of intelligent machines, Ray believes, will quantify in the future as another species, regardless of whether we encounter life outside of our solar system or not.  He believes we will be sharing our planet with robots, who will soon surpass our own intelligence, and only by becoming like the technology we create, will we be able to compete with those intelligent machines.  Ray says “the result will be an intimate merger between the technology-creating species and the technological evolutionary process it spawned.”


Ray explains extensively the exponential growth of technology versus the growth of evolutionary processes.  Intelligent machines will make it imperative to change ourselves and, in the process, we will be changing the evolution of life through intelligent machines.


4.  Space Exploration In 1,000 Years

Humanity has not kept its feet on the ground and, whether it be to the limits of the Earth or our own biology, we are always on a quest to discover and explore our world, and the space beyond it.  In 1,000 years, just how far will we have gone?  According to Ray, we will have mapped out much more of the the cosmos.  We will be able to foretell future cosmological occurrences that can affect the Earth, and the repercussions that any those events could incur for humankind.


The biggest reason for space exploration, however, is not only to discover how the universe works, but to scout out new and interesting planets that have the potential to support human life, should unfavorable conditions appear.  So far, possible planets to live on that we have discovered are too far out of our reach, which brings us to our next section on the list.


3.  The Future Of Space Travel

Futurist Arthur C. Clarke, considered a visionary about space travel, believes it is only a matter of time before we have safe and economical space propulsion systems.  The questions, however, are not just in building that technology and making it affordable, but to change ourselves to withstand the negative effects that space travel has on the human body.  Ray believes that we will soon be able to alter our own DNAwith emerging technology in order to withstand space travel, as DNA does not fare well in space. By doing so, we will be able to take farther and farther journeys out into space.


2.  Progress With Extending Human Life?

Of all that has been listed, number two probably has the most evidence to support it, specifically in recent years. Gerontologists and scientists are finding more and more evidence that the aging process can be slowed down.  Ray speaks extensively on how nanotechnology and nano-bots will slow the aging process, by travelling into the bloodstream to destroy pathogens, reverse the aging process, and correct DNA errors.  To add to that, Ray even talks about downloading the mind into another carrier, which is easily the most unlikely, but most thought-provoking, idea that Ray has introduced yet.

If stopping the aging process wasn’t enough to shock you, try taking it even farther by saying that future technologies will stop aging completely, one day making death obsolete.  Ray believes that, one day, humans will live forever.  He refutes the idea that “the purpose of life is to accept death,” that “death always means a profound loss in relationships, talent and potential, but that up until now we have had no choice but to rationalize it.”

#14 Flying Cars


From watching shows like The Jetsons and Futurama, if you’re an 90′s kid, you’d think the post Y2K era would bring about huge changes to mundane life. It wouldn’t be a car anymore if you never drove it and just flew it. How many times have you been stuck in traffic and just wish your car could vertical take off? It’d only be cool if you had one.

#13 Holograms


It’s not like they don’t have holograms, but you’d think it’d be an everyday utilized technology by now. Hatsune Miku and Tupac singing at concerts are about the closest thing they have now. Imagine just having a hologram of you lining up in a long line while you shopped at the store. Come check out time you’re paged by the hologram and you come up to pay!




 


#12 Robot servants


You hear of these in Japan but do they really have them? Get them out already! Again another “The Jetsons” reminder that we’re not in the future just yet. Almost…? Roomba





#11 Teleportation device


We dream that one day we can travel great distances within a blink. Thanks to “Star Trek” and “Star Gate”we wish we could be “beamed up”. Imagine internet shopping teleporting your products instantly! Gotta eat the nasty cooking of a friend or family, teleport that into your stomach! Too lazy to chew? Teleport that food!






#10 Space Colonies


We all thought from the many expeditions by NASA to space that outer space living or at least tourist ventures there would be possible. We imagine lunar colonies and the International Space Station is giving us hope for that. Thanks “Total Recall”. Why aren’t we out there yet?





#9 Mechanized battle suits


Countless tv shows draw upon this as fantasy material and who could disagree that the future of war shouldn’t be badass? Just to name a few shows and movies that bring this up….”Gundam”, “Power Rangers”, “Voltron”, “Mech Warrior” and countless other iterations




 


#8 Food replicator


What’s a future without food? Imagine being rid of our human need for food. We’d eat, but we’d never eat for sustainable. Every meal we’d eat for pleasure. Food tailored to our every whim, health traits, palette, and culture wherever, whenever. The lack of struggle for food will make us post-human and leave us with more time for intellectual development.





#7 Nanobots


What would a future be without nanobots? Nanites that would act according to our desires manipulating everything down to the molecular make up of any structure. Self-replicating machines that repair, destroy, combine, construct, and remove anything and everything at a molecular level. It could remove our species of disease, filth, biological functions (waste management) and much more. Imagine never having to cut your hair again because nanites could chew off the tips of your hair when they reached a certain length. Have nanites assist your body in repairing your wounds and removing scar tissue, tumors, bacterial infections, and parasites. Technologically we could construct any piece of material from the molecular structure up. The human condition could be a thing of the past, with material wealth and bodily health we would be post-human in our existences.




 


#6 Robitic limb enhancements


Remember “Mortal Kombat’s” Jax? That guy that got robot arms because his name implied he jacked it too much? Or Robocop, that guy that had his whole body repaired by machines? We have prosthetic but why not ones that increase our killing power or at least utility?





#5 Jetpacks, hover shoes, hover board


Tired of walking? Fly! Ever since that “Back to the Future” movie with the “Mattel” hover board I’ve been wanting one. I’d imagine that I’d never walk again. Of course that’s not a thing to consider anymore. The closest thing we come to flying off the ground is with a couple hundred dollars and a trip to the airport. Flying is a possibility today but we wish we could do it alone and with the wind in our hair. Maybe then we could try some quidditch or many other variations of the boring grounded sports we have today. Imagine hover board basketball, baseball…




 


#4 Underwater colonies


We have all heard the craze of underwater hotels. Why not start marketing parts of the sea as real estate by now. Space cannot be the final frontier if we have not even explored the depths of this planet.





#3 Robot toys


We thought the future was here when Sony released the robotic companion Aibo. Honda followed with ASIMO. But none of that ever became more than a fad. Though toys like Furby and Aibo were consumer products, this category of robotic companions did not create a market. We could’ve all had an Aibo for Aibo dog fights.




 


#2 Laser tools


Why are laser tools only for precision surgery. Imagine laser can openers or laser scissors. Never have the wipe the blades off again when you can cut food with a laser knife.

Dignified space monkey

As part of what Iran states is a step toward launching its own manned mission to space, the country claims to have sent a monkey into space on a rocket, and recovered it alive after it returned to Earth. Unfortunately for those of us fascinated by spaceflight or terrified of Iranian rocket technology, there aren’t many details on the (reportedly) successful flight.

Back in September of 2011, Iran attempted to send a monkey into space, but the reports coming out of the country said the mission failed. Exactly how the mission failed, though, was not disclosed. The mission reportedly involved sending a rhesus monkey into space on a Kavoshgar-5 rocket, and was supposedly “not publicized” because — as Iran Deputy Science Minister Mohammad Mehdinejad-Nouri put it — none of the mission objectives were met. We don’t know what that meant for the monkeynaut.

The report was aired on Iranian state television, and some images of the monkey being prepared for takeoff were shown. The little guy was wearing a protective monkey-sized outfit, and was strapped into a monkey-sized safety seat. The Explorer rocket in which the monkey traveled, dubbed the Pishgam (which translates to Pioneer), was said to have traveled a height of 72 miles (120 kilometers). There were no other details of the launch, other than the monkey returned to Earth safely, and was hopefully greeted appropriately.

Imagine stepping into an elevator, pressing the “Space” button and sometime later, floating in space!!. How cool will that be? This might sound madness now but glad fully, one Japanese company is ready to put money on this idea. This capability of providing a direct lift to space will open new avenues of research for scientists, NASA projects or even entertainment for public!

A Japanese company is now prepping to build the elevator to space and will be completed by 2050. Japan’s Obayashi Corporation thinks that NASA is not moving fast enough so they plan to take the responsibility of do the next big thing in space research. However, the feasibility of the plan and the current technological capabilities of the company are still not disclosed. The total length of the elevator will be 22000 miles and will connect earth to a space station. The ground station on earth and the space station will be connected together through a cable. The space station will also act like an orbital counterweight to hold the cable up.

The elevator will carry about thirty people and it will take eight days to reach the space station. During the journey, passengers will gradually, with every day, feel like losing weight and flying in the sky. The elevator will go up to a maximum speed of 125 miles per hour. According to Obayashi, the elevator cable will be made using carbon nanotubes.

The project sounds like fiction but in just 30 to 35 years, this huge trillion dollar project will be completed. There will be a lot of technological changeless along the way so lets hope for the best and see what comes out of this project. It will be amazing to have such project in existence and we are looking forward to take this ride in our life time.

Every year, the Los Angeles Auto Show hosts a challenge among automotive designers to concoct far-flung ideas about the future of transportation. This year’s theme asked what the law enforcement rides of 2025 might look like, and the sketchers at Mercedes-Benz were so enamored with their design they built a life-size version, creating a Gelandewagon for the end of the world.

Dubbed the Ener-G-Force, the truck is in Mercedes’ own words “pure science fiction,” but it does provide a few hints as to where Mercedes designers see SUV styles heading. Based on the military-grade G-Class SUVs, the Ener-G-Force features built-in police lights, a bull bar integrated into the grille and 20-inch off-road wheels “guarantee the right-of-way even where no way exists.” Since this is 2025, power comes from a hydrogen fuel cell sending electricity to motors in each wheel hub.

As part of the design competition, Mercedes filled the Ener-G-Force with a few less realistic, imaginary tools. The hydrogen from the fuel cell comes from a more up-to-date take on Mr. Fusion that pulls hydrogen from any given source, and stores the water produced by the cells in roof tanks. The space where a spare tire goes on the modern G-Class is filled with tools. And the roof rack includes a “terrascan” topography sensor that adjusts the suspension for different terrain. Given that Mercedes already sells technology that attempts to sense the road and even the wakefulness of the driver, some of this sounds like it could be on a options list well before 2025.
